I am a senior researcher & team lead (Digital Society Observatory) at Gesis and an external fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). Previously I worked at the University of Freiburg (Seminar für Politikwissenschaft), the Social Data Science and AI Lab (SODA, LMU Department of statistics), the MZES, the European University Institute (Florence, Italy) and the University of Bern (Switzerland). I conduct research in the areas of political science, sociology, methodology and computational social science. Together with Denis Cohen and Lion Berens I am writing a book on Applied Causal Analysis & Machine Learning. Together with Camille Landesvatter, we finished the DFG-funded project TRUSTME: Measuring and explaining Trust. I also regularly teach workshops on data visualization, machine learning, causal inference and shiny (see workshops).
